How to install an Android APK

Before you download

Confirm that the app is lawful for your location and suitable for your age. Read the app’s version, Android requirements, publisher privacy policy and permissions. Use an official publisher source when available.

Download the APK

  1. Open the app listing and review the details.
  2. Follow its download button to the configured publisher or file source.
  3. Check the file name and extension before saving. Do not download a file from a source you cannot identify.

Review and install

Keep Android device protection enabled. Review an independent scan report where available, and compare the SHA-256 hash if the publisher supplies one. A matching hash establishes file integrity, not malware safety.

If Android asks for installation permission, review which app is requesting it and the file you are opening. Device controls differ by manufacturer and Android version. Never bypass a security warning just to complete an installation.

After installation
